Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005.

The MGNREGA was launched on 4th May 2006 in the district and first job card was issued during the Independence Day celebration by the Deputy Commissioner, ie, on 15th August 2006.

The district have constituted Area Employment Council (AEC) as Gram Panchayat and Village Employment Council (VEC) as Gram Sabha as the district do not have the above institutions.
